Long, 21, has enjoyed a fruitful association with the Reds having spent last season at the Crown Ground before going on to make 26 appearances for John Coleman's men in the current campaign, scoring three goals.
"Kevin's a smashing lad who is very receptive to what you try to do," said Coleman in a club statement. "He's got a strong opinion about the game as well which is good and he's definitely tried to take on board what we've tried to do with him and he's improved no end."
After a period of assessment back at Burnley Gawthorpe training base, Long could be set for another temporary loan move higher up the Football League, according to Burnley boss Eddie Howe.
"Kevin has done really well at Accrington," Howe told the Clarets' official website. "He has been a really consistent performer for them and scored a few goals as well.
"We will see how much he has improved and where he's at right now and them perhaps look to get him back out, maybe to League One."
