Scott Guyett is eager to get started at Bournemouth after his transfer from League One side Yeovil was confirmed on Friday.
The 32-year-old centre-back, who signed a two-year deal after his contract at Yeovil was mutually terminated, revealed he was on the verge of signing for Cambridge when he got the call from Cherries chief executive Alastair Saverimutto.
He said: "I was on the M25 when Savi phoned and said, 'We want you down here, so if a three year contract is what you're after, will you turn the car around?' and I said yes.
"It's a lovely set up here at Bournemouth and I've enjoyed my first day here.
"I'll be looking to strengthen the backline and my height (6ft 2in) is definitely an advantage. I'm quite strong in the air so if that's the type of league it's going to be this season then hopefully I can do well.
"Bournemouth have always been a good footballing side and they always seem to play well in the games I've played against them. If we can do that in this league and pass around teams then we're in with a good shout."
