Southend United manager Steve Tilson insists the Shrimpers must improve defensively following another away defeat at lowly Tranmere.
Goals from Ian Goodison and Terry Gornell earned bottom-of-the-table Rovers their first points in five games.
United have lost four of their last five matches on the road in all competitions and have kept only one clean sheet in their last nine outings.
Tilson was disappointed with how his side defended but felt Southend deserved better than the scoreline suggested.
"We conceded two poor goals and we will need to look into that," said Tilson. "Obviously it was a disappointing result, but I thought our performance deserved something from the game.
"As the away team, we created plenty of chances but Tranmere put their chances away and we didn't. That's how it goes sometimes. Tranmere's performance did not surprise me. Indeed, I thought we were the better side on the night."
