Tranmere caretaker boss Les Parry will again be without midfielder Alan Mahon when his side travel to Leyton Orient for the second time inside five days.

Mahon has been ruled out for up to four weeks after suffering torn ankle ligaments against Orient in the FA Cup first-round tie at Prenton Park earlier this month.

He subsequently sat out Tuesday's 1-0 replay win and an MRI scan has now shown up the full extent of the damage, with the 31-year-old requiring three to four weeks on the sidelines.

Gareth Edds has missed the last two games after catching chickenpox and could miss out again but Parry has been delighted with the progress of rookie Ash Taylor, who scored the winning goal in Tuesday's FA Cup win after playing in midfield.

Parry said: "Ash is a confident young lad and whatever position he plays in he does a good job for us."

Loan duo Luke Summerfield and Andros Townsend return to the Leyton Orient squad.

Plymouth midfielder Summerfield and Tottenham winger Townsend were ineligible to play in Tuesday night's 1-0 FA Cup replay defeat by Rovers.

Boss Geraint Williams therefore has a full-strength squad at his disposal and could make further changes following the midweek disappointment.

Jimmy Smith, Ryan Jarvis and Adrian Patulea are all pushing for recalls after starting from the bench on Tuesday.

Glenn Morris will hope to keep hold of his place in goal despite the recent return to fitness of Jamie Jones, who has been among the substitutes for the last two games since recovering from a head injury.

On-loan goalkeeper Lee Butcher, brought in as cover for Jones, has this week returned to Tottenham.
