Managerless Tranmere Rovers came from behind to earn an FA Cup first-round replay after a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient at Prenton Park.
It was the least Rovers deserved from a game they dominated almost throughout as Chris Shuker's second-half leveller cancelled out Luke Ashworth's early header.
With both sides residing at the wrong end of the League One table, Saturday's encounter provided a welcome distraction but it was Orient that settled first and took an early lead.
Sean Thornton whipped in an inviting corner and Ashworth rose highest to power home his header after just seven minutes.
Tranmere began the second period brightly and were rewarded in the 51st minute when Shuker found the target with a well struck effort.
It was nearly 2-1 moments later but Glenn Morris turned over a close-range effort by Craig Curran as Orient soaked up the pressure, meaning the tie will go to a replay at Brisbane Road next week.
