West Ham are the new favourites to sign Ipswich goalkeeper Kelvin Davis after he stalled on a £1m-plus move to another newly-promoted Premiership club, Sunderland.
Davis, 28, met with the Black Cats last week to discuss a deal after the two clubs agreed a fee.
But he is apparently reluctant to uproot his young family from their Bury St Edmunds base.
The former Luton and Wimbledon number one has now emerged as a target for Hammers boss Alan Pardew as he looks to beef up his defence for the new campaign.
