Spackman - understands Burns' reasons for moving on
BURNS QUITS DEN FOR EAGLES
Tony Burns has left his role as Millwall goalkeeping coach to take a similar position at Crystal Palace.
Burns brings to an end a 14-year association with the Lions in favour of joining their south London rivals, who are now managed by Peter Taylor.
Burns was assistant manager to former boss David Tuttle during the second half of last season, but the pair could not keep Millwall in the Championship.
"I should probably have left when Tutts did (at the end of last season)," admitted Burns. "I believed I had to take my share of responsibility for the club's failure to avoid relegation.
"I have discussed the situation with (new manager) Nigel Spackman, who understands my position, and accepts my reasons for wanting to move on."
