Director of football Bob Dowie claims "a massive name from abroad" could become Crystal Palace's new manager.
Dowie and chairman Simon Jordan - who has already admitted his interest in Graeme Souness - are to whittle down their seven-strong shortlist to four this week.
Dowie - whose brother Iain left Palace to take over at Charlton last week - said: "We initially drew up a list of seven candidates, all of whom were discussed. One is a massive name from abroad.
"This will be reduced to four, and we should then be in a better position to know who the next manager of Crystal Palace will be."
