Ipswich Town have now taken 31 points out of the last 36 and kept their
promotion hopes on track by fighting back from an early deficit to overcome
solid resistance from QPR.
Chris Kiwomya gave Rangers a fourth-minute lead, but goals from David Johnson,
James Scowcroft and Matt Holland kept Ipswich in second place in the table.
Kiwomya, back at Ipswich for the first time since his £1.4million transfer to
Arsenal in 1995, gave Rangers the perfect start.
He was fouled by Mark Venus just outside the penalty area.
Paul Murray crossed
with a free-kick for Kiwomya to escape his marker and head home just inside the
far post.
Kiwomya was lively up front for Rangers, but Ipswich drew level in the 12th
minute.
Johnson escaped the tight marking of Danny Maddix to head home from a
cross by Jim Magilton following a corner.
Ludo Miklosko tipped a 30-yard thunderbolt from Venus over the bar, and
Ipswich needed to be patient against a solid Rangers defence.
Their second breakthrough came in the 65th minute.
Venus sent a free-kick
across goal from the left of the penalty area, and although Miklosko got a hand to
Scowcroft's header but couldn't prevent it from crossing the line.
Ipswich made sure of victory in the 75th minute when Holland scored with a
spectacular right-foot drive from a narrow angle after Johnson had knocked the
ball away from Miklosko in the goalmouth.
Rangers almost pulled a goal back three minutes later when substitute Iain
Dowie headed just wide from a cross from Tim Breacker.
