Ipswich town continued their great run at the expense of promotion rivals
Charlton but needed a second half revival to overcome the Londoners.
Ipswich, unbeaten in the league since Boxing Day, have now taken 26 points out
of a possible 30.
Clive Mendonca put Charlton ahead after 22 minutes with his 19th goal of the
season but Ipswich hit back in the second half through Mick Stockwell, Jason
Cundy and David Johnson.
Charlton looked the sharper side in the opening stages and their goal came
with Cundy was surprised by a back-header from Kieron Dyer and was robbed by
Mendonca who burst through on the right, rounded Richard Wright, and netted from
a narrow angle.
Ipswich's best effort in the first half came after 31 minutes when Charlton
keeper Sasa Ilic punched out a corner from Alex Mathie. The ball flew to
Dutchman Bobby Petta who fired against the bar from 20 yards.
Ipswich looked up for it after the interval and equalised in the 53rd minute.
Petta's cross from the left was mis-headed by Richard Rufus allowing Stockwell
to volley home his third goal of the season.
In the 59th minute Mark Bright headed over the bar for Charlton from a cross
by John Robinson and a minute later Stockwell was equally close for Ipswich from
Jamie Clapham's cross.
Ipswich took the lead in the 76th minute when a corner from Mathie found Tony
Mowbray wide of the far post. He headed back into the goalmouth for fellow
central defender Cundy to head home.
Two minutes from the end Johnson rounded off the scoring after being set up by
Dyer.
