Striker Danny Forrest, on his full first-team debut, was the hero for Bradford in this vital win over Ipswich at Valley Parade.

Bradford, hit by injuries and suspensions, included the 18-year-old Forrest in place of the suspended Andy Gray, and he proved the ideal replacement by scoring one goal and providing the other.

Ipswich, who had the better of the first half, collapsed in the second after the 50th-minute dismissal of Hermann Hreidarsson - in his 100th game for the club - for using the elbow in a tackle on Simon Francis.

Bradford made a bright start and Ipswich goalkeeper Andy Marshall had to save a fierce 20-yard shot from Francis.

Bradford keeper Aidan Davison did well to hold a sweetly-struck volley from Fabian Wilnis, Ashley Ward put a powerful header just over the Ipswich crossbar before Hreidarsson headed just wide.

Lewis Emanuel almost put Bradford ahead but his 25-yard shot was just over the crossbar before Forrest forced a good save from Marshall with a spectacular overhead kick.

Then Marcus Bent's superb shot from the left side of the penalty area hit the Bradford woodwork as an exciting half finished all-square at 0-0.

Bradford made a great start to the second half, Forrest having a close-range header blocked on the line.

Claus Jorgenson met the resulting corner but his powerful shot was saved by Marshall.

Then came the sending-off of Hreidarsson and Bradford took control.

Marshall had to pull off another good save to keep out a Michael Standing lob, Forrest shot into the side netting, Ward had a header cleared by Bent, a header from Robert Molenaar went just wide of the Ipswich goal and then Forrest forced another good save from Marshall with a fierce shot from 30 yards.

It seemed only a matter of time before Bradford scored and the breakthrough came in 62 minute when Jorgenson took Forrest's pass and hammered the ball home from the centre of the penalty area - Jorgensen's fifth goal in the last five Division One games for Bradford.

Six minutes later Forrest turned from provider to scorer when he met a Mark Bower header to poke the ball home from close range.

Ipswich tried hard to close the gap and substitute Darren Bent was unlucky when his powerful shot hit the woodwork and Jermaine Wright's volley was just over the crossbar but Bradford were full value for their win.
