Grimsby manager Paul Groves has boosted his squad with the signing of Preston youngster Michael Keane on loan until the end of the season.
Nineteen-year-old midfielder Keane, whose season has been hampered by a broken foot, is currently with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad.
North End chief Craig Brown said: "Michael has been frustrated that he hasn't been getting any games so this is a good chance to all but guarantee him first-team football for the rest of the season in Division One.
"It will be good for him to play, as he has been kept out of the side since his return from injury due to the form of Dickson Etuhu, Paul McKenna and Brian O'Neil."
