Bradford's players have agreed to another wage deferral following a crisis
meeting at the Bradford & Bingley stadium.
Bantams players are poised to put 20% of their salary on hold in a bid to
fulfil next season's fixtures and stop the cash-strapped club going into
liquidation.
The players have agreed in principle to take a temporary wage cut over the
summer and throughout next season after talks with chief executive Julian
Rhodes, PFA representative Mick McGuire and the club's administrators.
"The reaction at the meeting was positive, but all along we've said we'll do
our bit to help and will continue to do so," skipper David Wetherall told the
Telegraph & Argus.
"We went in there fearing the worst, but can now see that a plan has been put
together. Julian Rhodes has been extremely encouraged by just about everybody,
the supporters, the staff, the players and the PFA's willingness to assist."
City can expect a timely £100,000 windfall from Crystal Palace following their
progress in the play-offs as part of the Matt Clarke deal, while the Supporters'
Trust Appeal is well on the way to raising a further £100,000.
