Sergio Aguero and Nicolas Burdisso scored as Argentina beat African champions Egypt in Cairo on Wednesday.
Atletico Madrid forward Aguero carried his good La Liga form onto the international stage by scoring his second goal for the national side after capitalising on a mistake by Egypt defender Hani Said in the 66th minute.
Burdisso sealed the points with a goal five minutes from time.
Argentina had chances to score from the off with Luis Gonzalez's shot flying wide 42 seconds in.
But the Albicelestes also had problems in defence, as four minutes before Aguero's goal Mohamed Aboutrika was set up well by Ahmed Fathi, but his shot was lame and he sent the ball straight into Roberto Abbondanzieri's hands.
Aguero's goal came at a time when Egypt were on top.
And Burdisso punished the hosts further for their inaccuracy in front of goal when he scored the second in the dying minutes. The Internazionale defender headed the ball over Essam Al Hadari from a Maxi Rodriguez free-kick.
Argentina have two more friendlies scheduled - against Mexico in San Diego on June 4, four days before meeting the United States in New York.
The Egyptians will start their World Cup qualifying campaign on May 30, as the African Zone's second round saw them drawn in Group 12, alongside Congo, Malawi and Djibouti.
