FYR Macedonia 3 Andorra 0

FYR Macedonia cruised to victory over Andorra to guarantee themselves a fifth-placed finish in Euro 2008 qualifying Group E.

First-half strikes from Ilco Naumoski and Goce Sedloski put Macedonia in control before Goran Pandev scored after the break to effectively seal the points at the Gradski Stadium in Skopje.

The win gives Macedonia 11 points, six behind Israel, while Andorra remain at the bottom of the table without a point having lost all 10 of their qualifying matches.

The home side began the match purposefully and went close to breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute through Pandev.

The Lazio striker broke through the Andorra defence but with only goalkeeper Koldo Alvarez to beat he screwed his shot wide of the post from 12 yards.

Macedonia were then able to covert their dominance into goals and took a deserved lead in the 30th minute through Naumoski.

Pandev threaded a neat ball from the left to fellow striker Naumoski who shrugged off the attentions of two Andorra defenders.

Naumoski then rifled the ball from 12 yards into the net and past the despairing dive of Alvarez.

The home side doubled their advantage a minute before the half-time break through defender Sedloski.

The Andorra defence failed to adequately clear their lines and Sedloski latched on to the loose ball on the edge of the penalty area before volleying his shot low into the bottom-right corner.

Macedonia continued to control the game in the second half and made it 3-0 in the 59th minute through the influential Pandev.

Naumoski turned provider and picked out Pandev from the right, and he struck the ball into the bottom-right corner of the net from just inside the penalty area.

Andorra failed to record a shot on goal with the rest of the game played out at a leisurely pace as Macedonia strolled to a comfortable victory.
