Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande set up a Club World Cup semi-final against Bayern Munich after Brazilian Elkeson and Argentinian Dario Conca fired the Chinese side to a 2-0 victory over Egyptians Al Ahly.

It means two of world football's leading coaches, Evergrande's Italian World Cup winner Marcello Lippi and Bayern's former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, will go head to head on Tuesday in Agadir.

Bayern will be firm favourites for the prize of a place in next Saturday's final, to be played in Marrakech, but Guangzhou should have the taste for Agadir after this victory in the south-western Moroccan city.

The opening goal for Guangzhou came in the fourth minute of the second half, and was set up for Elkeson by his fellow Brazilian expatriate Muriqui.

Muriqui got in behind the Al Ahly defence and side-stepped goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy before firing against the inside of the right post. The ball trickled across goal and Elkeson, sniffing a chance, pounced to crack home a close-range shot.

The win was secured when Conca tucked in from 10 yards after Muriqui again did much of the groundwork.

Played through by midfielder Zhi Zheng after making a lung-busting run off the shoulder of the last defender, Muriqui looked to slide the ball home himself but Ekramy got a firm hand to his shot. He could not hold on though, and Conca raced in to finish left-footed and low into the right corner.
