Jermaine McGlashan earned Cheltenham a 1-0 win in an uninspiring game at Hartlepool.
Neither side have anything to play for in the final games of the season and it showed for the most of it.
The only goal came in the 74th minute when David Noble's low cross from the left side of the penalty area was curled towards the far post and defender Darren Holden failed to deal with it, allowing McGlashan to net from close range.
A fine one-handed save from Robins' goalkeeper Scott Brown denied Bradley Walker a seventh minute opener, while Jack Barmby also went close for the home side.
Just before the break winger McGlashan latched onto a clever dink over the defence but his attempted overhead kick was smothered by keeper Scott Flinders.
Noble's 49th minute low shot hit the inside of the post, with Flinders beaten.
And Jack Compton should have put Pools ahead, but planted a free header wide from close range after being picked out by Jon Franks.
Franks then had a low goalbound shot blocked by the impressive Michael Ihiekwe before McGlashan's goal.
The closest Pools came to levelling was when James Poole's goalbound shot was blocked on its way to goal by teammate Luke James.
