Plymouth Argyle leapfrogged their hosts as they hung on for a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Dagenham & Redbridge.
John Sheridan's men faced a late onslaught, but the hosts could not find an equaliser.
A cracking first half saw Plymouth go in front after just five minutes.
Conor Hourihane cracked in a shot which struck the crossbar, with Reuben Reid perfectly placed to knock in the rebound to register his 15th goal of the season.
The Daggers dragged themselves back into contention, and levelled in the 23rd minute when Zavon Hines dived in to stab home a low cross from Adebayo Azeez.
Argyle soon hit back, however, and re-took the lead 10 minutes later. This time Matt Parsons' pinpoint cross was superbly volleyed home by Lewis Alessandra.
Parsons almost made it 3-1 shortly after the restart, but his volleyed effort flew inches wide.
Luke Norris then almost made an immediate impact for Dagenham as he went close barely a minute after coming on.
Hines came closest to a late leveller when he almost bundled home at the near post.
