A Joe Ledley double helped Celtic secure a convincing, if expected, 5-0 win over bottom side Dundee at Parkhead which took them another step closer towards retaining their Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.
The Hoops stand-in skipper opened the scoring in the 13th minute and James Forrest notched the second from the spot four minutes after the interval when Dees substitute Matt Lockwood, only on for the start of the second half as replacement for Brian Easton, was shown a red card for denying Gary Hooper a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Dylan McGeouch, Ledley and Hooper then added goals to further deflate the relegation-bound visitors, whose new interim boss John Brown watched from the directors' box.
Dundee remain 15 points adrift of St Mirren at the foot of the table with their fate almost inevitable, although there may still be trouble looming in the wake of Brown's appointment.
Dundee United claimed a share of the points after Johnny Russell netted a controversial late penalty in a 2-2 draw against Hibernian.
The Edinburgh club had looked set to hold on for the win when James McPake cancelled out John Rankin's early opener and Leigh Griffiths struck in the second half.
But United were celebrating late on when Russell kept his cool to convert from the spot, following complaints from angry Hibs players.
