  • England 1 Denmark 0. All over and Sturridge's header settles the tie. Welcome win but still plenty to work on for Roy Hodgson's side.

  • Johnson pulled up for a trip. Free-kick to Denmark 35 yards from goal, just left of centre. Last chance to snatch a leveller. Olsen whips the ball in dangerously. Agger can't get a touch and the ball slips past the post.

  • Gerrard sees a pass cut out by Agger. England flood shirts back in an effort to preserve their clean sheet. Denmark lacking ideas.

  • Two minutes of stoppage-time to be played.

  • Oxlade-Chamberlain trying to make a nuisance of himself. He almost succeeds, but sees a loose ball bounce of his legs and through to Schmeichel.

  • Hart able to watch a looping cross from the right clip the roof of the net on its way over. Seconds ticking down now and England in no hurry to get the game going again.

  • Goal scorer Sturridge is replaced by Milner. Free-kick taken by Kvist for Denmark. He feeds the ball towards the back post, where Agger slides in but can't get a touch.

  • Sturridge touches on down the middle, but has no support runners. Denmark trying to play their way out. They will be hoping there is still one more chance in the game for them.

  • Sterling now making his way from the field, with Townsend sent on in his place. Like-for-like change. As play gets back under way, Olsen gathers a loose ball on the edge of the box and fires over the crossbar.

  • Sterling has done okay tonight and is still working hard to find pockets of space. He loses the ball on this occasion and then concedes a free-kick chasing back.

  • England have dropped off a bit now. Ideally, you would want to see them pushing for a second. It hasn't been great tonight but a two-goal victory would help to put a bit of gloss on it.

  • Should be enough for England as Denmark haven't offered much in the last 10 minutes or so. Still a bit of time to see out though.

  • GOAL ENGLAND - STURRIDGE. Sterling chases a lost cause and forces a corner. Taken short by Lallana, who gets it back from Sterling. He floats the ball into the middle where Sturridge rises highest to nod back across Schmeichel and into the corner of the net.

  • Welbeck sent sprawling by Kvist. Denmark make another change with Poulsen making way for Olsen. Gerrard over the free-kick for England. He whips the ball towards the ball, but away from those who have made their way forward.

  • England failing to press high enough up the field and keep Denmark pegged back. Fortunately for them, the visitors have lost their way and are giving the ball away cheaply far too often.

  • Sterling cuts back to Sturridge on the edge of the box. He connects first time with his trusted left foot, but ends up producing neither a shot nor a cross. England forced back out to halfway.

  • Gerrard trying to get England going, but has little room in which to work. The hosts go right, but Denmark have plenty of bodies back. No way through for Lallana.

  • Another set-piece is seen off by Denmark. Kvist then prevents Lallana returning the ball to the box. England send on Oxlade-Chamberlain in place of Henderson.

  • Corner taken short and worked to Sturridge. England getting closer as a curling drive from the edge of the box forces Schmeichel to tip over the top. Sturridge's corner is poor, but nodded behind again by Juelsgard.

  • Cahill, like Smalling, happy to get up to halfway, but then runs out of ideas. Not great from England at the moment. They suddenly up the tempo as Lallana darts forward. A low cross from the left is put behind.
