Hearts boss Gary Locke faces making the long trip to Inverness for Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash without five of his first-team troops.

David Smith: Ruled out for six weeks
David Smith: Ruled out for six weeks

The Tynecastle boss was this week rocked by the news 20-year-old winger David Smith has been ruled out for six weeks with a fractured knee, joining long-term casualties Jason Holt and Jamie Walker (both foot) on the sidelines.

And the painfully-thin Gorgie squad's task of gaining revenge for this month's League Cup semi-final defeat to the Highlanders has also been hit by suspensions which count out defender Kevin McHattie and striker Callum Paterson.

Inverness skipper Richie Foran is set for his first start since the Christmas period.

The 33-year-old Irishman injured his shoulder against Aberdeen on December 21 but came off the bench as the Highlanders were held to a 2-2 William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round draw by Stranraer last weekend and featured in an Under-20s match against Hamilton on Tuesday.

Otherwise, boss John Hughes has no fresh selection troubles ahead of the Scottish Premiership meeting with the Jambos.
