  • Mixed emotions for Sunderland boss Gus Poyet who will have been delighted to see his side battle back from two goals down, but he will also have been dismayed at the way they were completely outplayed for most of the first half. Southampton could well have been out of sight in the opening half hour but in the end were perhaps fortunate to take a point as the home side finished strongly.

  • Johnson's kick is half cleared but falls to Ki on the edge of the box and he works a shooting opportunity but it is blocked. Sunderland win it back and Colback's cross picks out Alonso who gets above Chambers but Boruc saves.

  • Fletcher wins a late corner for Sunderland off the covering Fonte.

  • Mannone has to dash off his line to save at the feet of Rodriguez as he tried to get on the end of a clever through ball from Davis.

  • We will have a minimum of seven minutes added time as Lambert meets a Ward-Prowse free-kick but it's an easy save for Mannone.

  • Borini does well to get a cross in but Fonte spots the danger and gets the ball to safety.

  • Lovren has his leg in a brace and has been given oxygen so he also appears to be in a bad way.

  • Lovren is replaced by Maya Yoshida.

  • Lovren also exits the field on a stretcher after a seemingly innocuous challenge on Gardner.

  • Ramirez is replaced by James Ward-Prowse.

  • Ramirez is stretchered off and he looks to be in a lot of pain.

  • Saints players have surrounded the referee and Lovren is now also down.

  • Play is held up as Ramirez needs treatment.

  • Ramirez makes a powerful run to the edge of the Sunderland box and looks to have been brought down but play is waved on.

  • Johnson tries a cross-cum-shot as he cuts in down the right but it's an easy save for Boruc.

  • Are we going to get a winner? Can Sunderland snatch the most unlikely of three points after being outplayed in the first half and trailing 2-0?

  • Boruc has to race off his line to deal with a hopeful punt forward by Bardsley and the keeper looks to be moving OK again.

  • Boruc looks to have an injury and may have to come off - by the way, replays show that Johnson's shot, albeit well struck, went through the keeper's hands.

  • The momentum is now firmly with Sunderland for the first time in the game and they now look the most likely winners.

  • Saints half clear the resulting corner to the edge of the box and it is played back in and Boruc has to block Fletcher's shot from close range.
