BATE Borisov coach Viktar Hancharenka insists his side are determined to taste more continental success despite the disappointment of their exit from the Champions League in December.

BATE begin their Europa League campaign against Turkish side Fenerbahce in Belarus on Thursday night, and Hancharenka believes motivating his players will not be a problem.

He said: "Our Champions League exit gave us experience and there are lots of big teams in the Europa League.

"We know about the qualities of Fenerbahce and our goal is to find their weaknesses."

BATE are yet to kick off the new Belarus league season but scored an excellent friendly win over Zenit St Petersburg last week, and will hope to recreate the form that saw them score a famous 3-1 home win over Bayern Munich in their Champions League group in October.

That result has provided plenty of concern for Fenerbahce chief Aykut Kocaman, who has named a 21-man squad for the trip to snowy Belarus, which does not include Serbian striker Milos Krasic.

Krasic, signed by the club last year, has been left out with rumours persisting about his future at the club. He has been replaced by 18-year-old Recep Niyaz, while Joseph Yobo is still unavailable after the African Nations Cup.

Kocaman said: "We have to be very careful that we don't fall into the same trap as Bayern.

"We have to concentrate for the full 90 minutes. We have the power to go to the final and we can get a good result."
