Unbeaten in their last four matches, with three of those ending in victory, 11th-placed Nice are looking up rather than down, especially ahead of a trip to struggling Sochaux on Saturday.
However, the home side are unbeaten in three and Puel has no illusions about how tough the match could potentially be.
"We're doing pretty well lately, as are Sochaux," he told the club's official website. "We have a tough game in prospect.
"We prepared for this match with great concentration. We struggled a lot to achieve these results, we must make an effort to not tarnish (our achievements)."
Full-back Timothee Kolodziejczak has been a mainstay in the Nice line-up and is not surprised by his side's recent success.
"The group has always been (confident)," he said. "It's just that right now, as witnessed by the win against Toulouse (last weekend), we have more success. And it feels good.
"We are able to develop the game at home against the same big sides, and has character as proved in Marseille. We should however be wary of Sochaux, who have also taken a lot of points lately."
