  • The full-time whistle goes and West Brom and Sunderland have played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their opening match of the season. It has been a topsy-turvy encounter and both sides will feel they could have won it, but they should be satisfied with a point apiece after an evenly-contested afternoon.

  • It is West Brom on the attack In the dying stages and they win a corner, but this time it is Baird who heads it away.

  • West Brom win a free-kick in a decent area and Pocognoli delivers a high, deep ball to the back post, but it is scrambled away by Roberge.

  • The board goes up for five minutes of stoppage-time, so there is still a chance there could be a late twist.

  • Play is brought to a brief halt as Anichebe receives treatment after picking up a knock, but he will have to carry on as West Brom have made all three of their changes, and he looks fine after a moment or two.

  • There are a lot of tired legs out there as players get used to the pace of the Premier League again after a summer off, but both times are really going for the three points.

  • Sunderland think they have a chance on the counter-attack to steal a winner but Gomez had fouled Mulumbu to set up the break and the referee awards the foul.

  • GOAL! Larsson equalises for Sunderland. A great passage of play sees Gomez release the overlapping Van Aanholt down the left and he fizzes in an inviting low cross for Larsson to turn home from close range.

  • West Brom make a double change to bring on Yacob and former Sunderland man Sessegnon in place of Dorrans and Gardner.

  • Poyet is really throwing caution to the wind now as he sends on Altidore in place of Brown.

  • Larsson's delivery is disappointing and Mulumbu gets his head to the ball to ball to force it away from the danger area.

  • Sunderland are showing a lot more urgency now, as Pocognoli fouls Buckley to give the visitors a free-kick in a promising position.

  • West Brom's first change of the afternoon sees Baird come on for Brunt, which leads to a slight tactical reshuffle as the new man sits in midfield and Dorrans moves out to the left.

  • There is a great atmosphere around the ground now as Anichebe gets back to help out in defence with a powerful headed clearance.

  • GOAL! Berahino puts West Brom 2-1 in front. Dorrans forces Mannone into a decent save with a low shot from just outside the area, but Gardner reacts quickly to get to the ball and delivers a wonderful cross to the back post, where Berahino catches Van Aanholt napping to suplly a simple finish.

  • Poyet makes his second Sunderland change, bringing on Buckley for Johnson.

  • There has been an element in this second half of neither side being sure of whether to stick or twist, but is becoming increasingly open now as time nicks out to nick a winner.

  • Larsson picks out Van Aanholt with a glorious crossfield pass but Dawson steps in with an important challenge.

  • Rodwell gets a warm round of applause as he makes way for Gomez. It has been an encouraging debut from the midfielder but Poyet is right to build up his fitness gradually.

  • Rodwell's feet are too quick for Gardner as he turns away from the West Brom midfielder and is brought down.
