Team news for Sunday's William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final clash between St Johnstone and Aberdeen.

Gary McDonald: Misses Sunday's cup game
Gary McDonald: Misses Sunday's cup game

St Johnstone midfielder Gary McDonald has failed in his bid to prove his fitness in time for Sunday's William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final with Aberdeen.

The former Dons midfielder hoped to return from a knee injury sustained three weeks ago but despite being spared surgery, the 31-year-old has been ruled out.

Long-term absentees Tam Scobbie (ankle) and Murray Davidson (knee) are also unavailable for the Ibrox clash.

Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes has lost his battle to make the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone on Sunday.

Hayes is making good progress from a collarbone injury but manager Derek McInnes has ruled him out of the Ibrox clash.

Alan Tate and Calvin Zola are both carrying knocks.
