  • A superb advert for the Premier League after a rip-roaring 90 minutes that felt like a cup tie. Cardiff twice came from behind to take a point that their effort and determination thoroughly deserved. It could have been more but mistakes at the back were twice punished by injury-hit United who were unable to find what would have been a killer third goal. But despite the quality of football on show, most of the post-match chat will be whether Wayne Rooney should have been sent off early in the first-half for kicking out at Jordan Mutch.

  • The full-time whistle goes and Cardiff leave to a standing ovation from their delighted fans.

  • Another chance for United as a free-kick falls to Smalling inside the box and he turns well but drags his shot wide.

  • We will have a minimum of four minutes added time and United have a great chance as Turner fails to cut out a Giggs pass and Rooney has the ball 12 yards out but with the keeper off his line, he inexplicably elects to try and square the ball to Welbeck allowing Marshall to gather - what was he thinking?

  • Whittingham delivers the ball to the near post and Kim heads in his first Premier League ball.

  • GOAL! Kim heads Cardiff level.

  • Players from both sides get involved but both escape without a booking.

  • Smalling brings down Noone in a dangerous area. Whittingham puts it into a crowded box and but the whistle goes as the referee wants to speak with Fellaini and Medel after a skirmish.

  • United again try to keep possession as the clocks ticks down, but Valencia is caught offside.

  • Cleverley is booked for a foul on Whittingham and there are some afters as tempers threaten to boil over.

  • Fellaini concedes a free kick which the hosts take quickly and Evans gets in to clear from Kim.

  • Campbell goes off and is replaced by Andreas Cornelius/

  • There is a delay in play as Campbell needs treatment for what looks like a touch of cramp.

  • United sweep downfield and Rooney's determination wins them a corner.

  • Evans does well to clear from Kim after Campbell had done well to win the ball at the far post - anxious moments for United there.

  • Welbeck bursts onto a clever pass from Rooney but blasts wide from 14 yards.

  • Cleverley fouls Campbell and Caulker meets Whittingham's resulting free-kick but can't keep his header down.

  • United are playing the ball around in the centre circle and at the moment are more content to try and run the clock down rather than pursue a third goal.

  • Ferdinand's attempted clearance hits Smalling and Campbell almost gets in, before the former England defender's backpass put De Gea under pressure but manages to clear.

  • Cardiff's second change sees Bo-Kyung Kim on for Mutch.
