  • Another set-piece now, this time for the Blue Sharks, and a corner or free-kick might just be their most likely way past Bafana, although they need to work on their accuracy from dead-ball situations as another chance is hit straight at the wall.

  • Bernard Parker wins a free-kick after being tugged back, although the striker had actually managed to get past his man but the referee decided not to play-on and pulled play back. The Chiefs forward isn't happy about it at all and lets the match official know what he thinks.

  • Ramos Nhuck lines this one up but fires his shot high, wide and handsome.

  • A free-kick in a dangerous area for South Africa to deal with, but it's lumped straight into the wall and the ball deflects miles into the air and up the field, but Cape Verde attack again and win another set-piece, this one in an even better position that the previous one.

  • Thabo Matlaba's tenacity earns South Africa a corner, but their delivery too is weak and the defenders can easily clear.

  • The delivery from the set-piece is not the greatest though and Bafana can easily clear the danger.

  • Thuso Phala shows bags of pace to get back to nip the ball off Marco Soares' toes, but a wayward pass gives possession back to the Sharks and a timely intervention from Khumalo prevents a goal-scoring opportunity, but also gives the visitors their first corner.

  • Phala and Letsholonyane play a nice little one-two on the edge of the Cape Verde area, but the latter's return pass fizzes off the slick turf and out for a goal-kick.

  • Cape Verde carve open the Bafana defence with what is their first attack of the game, but Luis Platini drags his shot just wide of the goal following a wonderful through-ball from the middle of the park.

  • Thabo Matlaba floats a wonderful ball into the area but it's just over the head of Bernard Parker, and the keeper is able to save.

  • Bernard Parker seems to go over far too easily on the edge of the area, but the ref appears to have been duped as he awards a free-kick some 25-yards out, but Siphiwe Tshabalala's effort doesn't have enough power in it and Josimar Vozinha makes and easy save.

  • Reneilwe Letsholonyane goes in with a little too much enthusiasm for the referee's liking and concedes his side's first foul of the afternoon.

  • It looks more like a volleyball match out there as both sides employ some early, extremely ineffective, route-one football.

  • Cape Verde lump a couple of hopeful balls up field, but they're to no-one in particular, while Thabo Matlaba does the same at the other end, eliciting calls to be calm from coach Gordon Igesund.

  • Thuso Phala shows some early initiative for Bafana as he breaks past his man down the wing, but his delivery into the box is not very good and the defence is able to clear. Moments later though the playmaker wins his side a free-kick in a really dangerous area, and Siphiwe Tshabalala's dangerous ball finds Bernard Parker, but he can only head wide after finding himself unmarked.

  • The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations is officially up and running!

  • We're just a couple of minutes away from the kick-off now, and the National Stadium is absolutely rocking!
