Despite a run of four defeats in a row, and without a win at home yet this season, Fortuna Dusseldorf coach Norbert Meier is quite relaxed going into Saturday's clash with Hoffenheim.

The reason for Meier's optimism certainly does not lie in his side's results, but the performances are giving him reason to believe things will soon take a turn for the better.

"Despite losing to Leverkusen, we managed to turn things around," he said. "We rediscovered the values which make us strong and we take plenty of positives with us from that game."

Whether that means a maiden Bundesliga win at the Dusseldorf Arena on Saturday will depend on how much his side have learnt from a 3-2 defeat in the Rhine derby last weekend.

According to Meier, his team are still adapting to life in the Bundesliga, which is new for practically the entire squad.

"We have got to understand that we are in the Bundesliga now and that these kind of mistakes get punished immediately," he said.

"We mustn't be so gullible in games. We have got to get the best we can out of our opportunities."

Hoffenheim did precisely that a week ago when they beat Schalke 3-2 and that result has given their coach Markus Babbel reason to believe that his side could still qualify for Europe next season.

"I can see the potential in this side to play in Europe," he said on the Fortuna website. "But we are not talking about that anymore.

"We just need to take things from game to game and gain some stability.

"We knew from the start that the development of this side is a process. We made a few changes to the squad before the season and it just takes time for new players to settle in."

Fortuna are without Dani Schahin, but Oliver Fink is back from suspension and Stefan Reisinger could return to the squad after injury.

Pelle Jansen could come into the Hoffenheim team since Matthieu Delpierre is a doubt with a muscular injury.
