After taking only one point from their last five games - and scoring just one goal in that spell - Bastia will hope to ease their relegation worries when they visit fellow strugglers Troyes on saturday.

Losing 1-0 at home to Nice last Saturday has increased the pressure on the Corsican club, who have not looked the same since captain Yannick Cahuzac fractured his arm in the shock French Cup defeat to third-tier city neighbours CA Bastia early last month.

Cahuzac is ruled out for the rest of the season and this weekend is joined on the sidelines by fellow midfielder Julien Sable and 32-year-old Brazilian striker Ilan.

Bastia coach Frederic Hantz had mixed emotions after the loss to Nice, saying: "The analysis of recent matches doesn't make for pretty reading.

"We're not scoring many goals or creating chances, we're lacking mental aggression. I hope this will prove to be a useful defeat for us in terms of what we learn from it."

Troyes have only Nancy below them in the table and have five points to make up to avoid an immediate drop back into Ligue 2, but they are on a four-match unbeaten run.

Victory over Brest has been followed by three draws and the latest of them, 2-2 at Toulouse last Saturday, was ultimately really disappointing.

Substitute Mohammed Yattara and Benjamin Nivet scored in the 78th and 83rd minutes, but the home side got the goals back in the final five minutes.

The two dropped points could cost Jean-Marc Furlan's side dear come the end of the season.
