Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon is hoping the Tartan Army can secure the services of Hearts winger Andy Driver.
The Sunderland stopper is hoping Driver will be called up to the next Scotland squad, despite already playing for England at Under-21 level.
The Scottish Football Association have persuaded FIFA to change the rules on eligibility, to ensure that players who do not qualify through place of birth or bloodline can still represent a nation if they grew up there.
For Oldham-born Driver, 21, this would mean a potential place in George Burley's next squad, which Gordon, who used to play for Hearts, is pleased about.
"Andy is a young player who is making his way in the game and if Scotland can cast the net wide for players I do not see why not," he said in the Daily Record.
"He has been playing very well for Hearts, has terrific pace and you can always use that kind of player at international level because it is a great weapon. It is a major aspect of the modern game.
"Andy was just a teenager before I left but even then he was a good talent and had had a few first-team games.
"He was raw potential back then but he has now become a very important player for Hearts.
"If he doesn't play they really miss him. It takes away a lot of their attacking flair."
Asked whether he thought it was breaking the international rules, Gordon added: "I am absolutely certain that every other country will use the rules.
"I don't think you will see other nations shying away from it, so let's play by the rules."
