Andrew Driver is non-committal over his international future following the rule change which allows him to play for Scotland.

Hearts winger Driver, 21, could become the first beneficiary of new eligibility criteria that allows national team boss George Burley to select British passport holders born outside the country who have been schooled there for five years.

Burley said he would have no qualms picking former Scotland schoolboy international Driver, despite the player having made his England Under-21 debut this summer.

But Burley insists the winger must make the first move by proclaiming his allegiance to his adopted country.

Driver has suggested he would wait to be called up before doing so.

"The rule change opens a door for players whose circumstances are similar to mine," said Driver, who was born in Lancashire but moved to North Berwick as a 10-year-old.

"But if you are talking about me and Scotland, I haven't been picked yet and I can't expect to walk into a national team just because of a change in the rules."

He told Hearts News: "My main focus is to keep my form for Hearts and I believe the team is good enough to win further trophies.

"I like Hearts, Edinburgh and enjoy playing in the SPL.

"Scotland has been very good to me. The country has given me my education, I am earning a living here and my family are also very happy."
