The new King Baudouin Stadium (Allsport).
BRUSSELS
Name: King Baudouin Stadium
Capacity: 50,000
Built: 1930
The capital of Begium and officially, Europe, Brussels manages to mix its business exterior with a culturally-wealthy centre.
And come Euro 2000, it will be hoping that the tournament can at least go some of the way to erasing more tragic memories from its history.
The King Baudouin Stadium was renovated on the site of the ill-fated Heysel stadium and was subsequently renamed.
The whole ground was redeveloped, although the original façade - designed by Jozef van Neck - was maintained.
The stadium is home to the Belgian national team, and was also the venue for the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final which saw Paris St Germain prevail over Rapid Vienna.
The King Baudouin Stadium is the only Euro 2000 venue without a regular home team and will play host to the opening clash featuring Belgium and Sweden, along with the opening ceremony.
