Weather hits midweek fixtures

St Johnstone's William Hill Scottish Cup clash at Cowdenbeath has been postponed for a fourth time due to a frozen pitch.

The weather has claimed a number of scheduled fixtures

The fourth-round tie, which has a trip to St Mirren Park at stake, was due to be played on Wednesday night but the Central Park pitch is still frozen and the tie has been rearranged for Monday night.

Tuesday night's fourth-round replay between Morton and Turriff United at Cappielow has also been postponed and the match moved to Monday evening.

Barrow's FA Cup tie with Macclesfield, scheduled for Tuesday night, has been postponed for a second time.

A new date of Tuesday December 18 has now been set after the clash was called off again.

A statement on Barrow's official website read: "A hard overnight frost has put paid to Tuesday's FA Cup tie with Macclesfield following a 1.15pm pitch inspection.

"At 8am most of the pitch was frozen hard and even some areas under the frost covers were very firm.

"The situation had hardly improved by 1.15pm.

"With temperatures only predicted to reach two degrees, there is no way now the pitch will soften sufficiently to allow the game to go ahead.

"Match assessor Mike Pike in consultation with match referee Dave Webb conducted the lunchtime inspection."
