An integral part of the Greece squad since making his debut back in April 2001, Kafes is a defensive midfielder adept at breaking up attacks and setting his side on the offensive.
A professional footballer since the age of 17, Kafes lists Pontioi Verias and PAOK Thessaloniki among his former clubs but his spell at the latter ended after a row over unpaid wages.
Olympiakos recruited him on a three-year contract and the 32-year-old has added to his experience by playing for them in the Champions League this season.
