Regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he is a physically imposing player who led Panathinaikos to the best defensive record in the Greek league last season.
In a testament to his individual talent, he featured in the world XI games in 2002, a rare accolade for a Greek player.
He made his international debut in a friendly against El Salvador in 1999 and he has since confirmed his position as Greece's best keeper.
