Spain and Greece maintained their unbeaten records at Euro 2004 as they played out a 1-1 draw in their Group A clash at the Bessa Stadium.
Fernando Morientes opened the scoring for Spain just before the half-hour mark but Angelos Charisteas' equaliser on 66 minutes meant both teams had to settle for a point to leave them in the top two places in the group.
Spain had much the better of the first half and deservedly took the lead on 28 minutes when Morientes, who had been under pressure to perform with Fernando Torres waiting in the wings, slotted the ball home after linking superbly with Raul and turning his marker just inside the Greece box.
Greece threatened sporadically during the opening 45 but looked reinvigorated after the break and Charisteas took advantage of some slack defending to lash the ball home and earn his side a point.
