Ricardo Carvalho: Was rock-solid at the heart of defence and forced goalkeeper Antonios Nikopolidis to make a fine save. 8

Miguel: Threatened Greek defence with his fast runs from the right and forced a save from Antonios Nikopolidis but was forced to leave the pitch due to rib injury before half-time. 7

Maniche: Great creator, had a couple of shots that narrowly missed the target. 7

Costinha: Was booked early in the game after a tackle on Seitaridis, worked hard in central midfield but was replaced shortly after Greece scored. 5

Cristiano Ronaldo: Played with enthusiasm, showing good dribbling and tactical skills but missed a golden opportunity to equalise. 6

Deco: was heavily marked and he failed to provide the right passes in Portugal's counter-attacks. 4

Figo: A quiet evening from the captain, who was unable to show the same drive that had seen him named man of the match against Holland. Had a golden opportunity with minutes remaining but his shot went narrowly wide. 5

Pauleta: Failed to find the target once again and ends the tournament without getting on the scoresheet. Replaced by Nuno Gomes. 4

Paulo Ferreira (for Miguel, 42): Worked hard but could not provide the speed that Miguel had provided on the right wing. 5

Rui Costa (for Costinha, 60): The veteran playmaker gave his team more drive in attack in what was his last game for the national team. 5

Nuno Gomes (for Pauleta, 73): Did not have time to make any impact in spite of having had a good tournament. 5

GREECE

Antonios Nikopolidis: Was called into action on several occasions and made a fine save from Carvalho's powerful strike. 7

Georgios Seitaridis: Showed his athletic qualities with his drives from the right, making the Portuguese defence work hard. Shackled Figo and Ronaldo with impeccable concentration at the back. 9

Traianos Dellas: Solid in defence, gave confidence to his team and made several vital blocks. 9

Mihalis Kapsis: The excellent central defender maintained his consistency throughout the game, making important clearances. 6

Panagiotis Fyssas: Gave the ball away in dangerous territory and was booked after a harsh tackle on Luis Figo. 5

Konstantinos Katsouranis: Did a fantastic job at marking Deco. 8

Angelis Basinas: His precise corner-kick allowed Charisteas to score. Showed great passing and tactical technique but was booked for an unnecessary handball. 8

Angelos Charisteas: Gave his team victory after his powerful header beat Ricardo, netting his third goal of the tournament. 8

Theo Zagorakis: The experienced captain worked hard in midfield, recovering balls and pushing his team forward. 8

Stelios Giannakopoulos: Sturdy replacement for suspended Georgios Karagounis, he not only showed his defensive skills but also provided good passes towards the opponents' area. 7

Zisis Vryzas: Unable to get past Portugal's defensive wall and was substituted late in the second half. 6
