West Brom manager Tony Mowbray believes striker Craig Beattie will benefit from a confidence boost after scoring his first competitive goal for the Baggies.
The summer signing from Celtic scored to give Albion a 1-0 Carling Cup first-round win over the visiting Cherries.
And Mowbray said: "I suppose you could say it was an okay finish couldn't you?
"All strikers thrive on goals and his first competitive goal for this club will give Craig plenty of belief and confidence.
"It was a case of job done because we kept a clean sheet, won the game and are through to the next round.
"But we always wanted a second goal to be comfortable and did not make the most of the chances we created.
"If there is one area of the team we need more competition for places and more options, it is among the strikers."
Cherries boss Kevin Bond said: "I have got the utmost respect for West Brom so we could not afford to go gung-ho, although, if anything, we showed them too much respect in the first half.
"We were not having too much trouble before then scored, but we were done on the counter-attack and it was a great finish by Beattie, a great finish.
"Neil Moss did really well throughout the game as a whole, but there was nothing anyone could have done about the goal.
"Even after West Brom scored, we could not afford to be too reckless, but I thought we took the game to them in the final 20 minutes when they could not wait for the final whistle to go."
