Anderlecht remain top of Europa League Group A after a convincing victory over Timisoara.

Matias Suarez put the home side in front from the penalty spot after 29 minutes but Winston Parks equalised early in the second period.

Mbark Boussoufa headed Anderlecht back in front 20 minutes from time before Jonathan Legear sealed the win deep into injury time.

The first game between the sides had ended goalless and there were again precious few chances in the opening period.

That was perhaps not surprising given the fact that Anderlecht had won just one of their previous five European home games, while the visitors were seeking a first ever away win in continental competition.

Timisoara were also chasing a first goal in Group A but rarely threatened to do so in a quiet opening to the match.

And it took until Anderlecht opened the scoring after 29 minutes for the game to come to life.

Defender Florin Maxim brought down Suarez in the area, receiving a yellow card from referee Tony Chapron for his troubles, and Suarez picked himself up to score from the spot.

All Timisoara had to show for their efforts in the first half was a long-range effort from Alexandru Bourceanu which flew over the bar, but they were soon surprisingly back on level terms just five minutes into the second period.

Artavazd Karamyan's corner found Parks free in the box and he headed home beyond Silvio Proto.

Karamyan then tried his luck from long range but Proto was well placed to make a comfortable save.

Anderlecht were clearly shaken by the comeback but eventually regrouped and retook the lead after 68 minutes.

Substitute Jonathan Legear crossed from the right and Boussoufa powered a header into the bottom corner.

Buoyed by getting back in front, Anderlecht went in search of a third goal to kill off the tie and Romelu Lukaku's shot from 20 yards was saved by Costel Pantilimon.

Timisoara faced a series of corners late on but were unable to find an equaliser and, deep into injury time, Legear fired home from 12 yards to complete the win for the home side.
