A goal in each half from Ivan Perisic gave Club Brugge the first victory of their Europa League Group J campaign, 2-0 at the expense of struggling Partizan Belgrade.

Brugge went in front in only the fourth minute when Perisic got on the end of a Karel Geraerts cross, heading into the top corner from inside the six-yard box.

Partizan had to reorganise their defence in only the 14th minute when Goran Gavrancic went off injured and was replaced by Nenad Djordjevic.

Just before the quarter-hour mark, Brugge threatened again - Joseph Akpala's 12-yard volley tipped over the bar by Aleksandar Radosavljevic.

Brugge had an even better chance to go two up in the 18th minute, after Djordjevic conceded a penalty with a foul on Geraerts in a crowded penalty area as Jonathan Blondel swung in a corner.

But Perisic did not rise to the occasion this time, placing his spot-kick too high.

Geraerts headed wide from a Blondel corner - and then Carl Hoefkens planted a shot over from a free-kick, within seconds of one another on the half-hour.

Partizan's best effort of the half was a 25-yard right-footed shot from Branislav Jovanovic which was pushed over the bar by Stijn Stijnen.

Two Perisic headers went wide soon after the break, in an uneventful opening to the second half - until Brugge's second goal arrived in the 58th minute.

Again, it was courtesy of Perisic - with a right-footed shot from the edge of the area.

The hosts remained in control but did not need to press for further gains.

A right-foot shot curled just wide from 20 yards by Vadis Odjidja in the 80th minute and another well-directed but comfortably-saved Perisic shot in injury time were as close as they came to a third.

Partizan, meanwhile, could make no worthwhile headway.

Their only notable achievements were a rash of bookings as frustration took its toll, and the Serbians remain pointless at the bottom of the table after three matches.
