Tony Mowbray will have no compunction in keeping Lukasz Zaluska in goal for Celtic's Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final tie with Hearts at Parkhead on Wednesday.

The former Dundee United goalkeeper made his first Clydesdale Bank Premier League appearance of the season as a replacement for the injured Artur Boruc in Sunday's 2-1 win over Hamilton at New Douglas Park.

The victory took the visitors a point above Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the table and it was thanks to Zaluska, who saved the day with a last-gasp save when confronted by Accies skipper James McArthur.

Now Mowbray will have to choose between his two Polish goalkeepers for the visit of the Jambos.

"Artur could have played against Hamilton, it was more precautionary," Mowbray said.

"I'm sure a rest for a week or two will sort the problem out.

"I've always said that keepers are there to make saves and to be honest Lukasz didn't have too much to do for 87 minutes.

"But Lukasz is a good goalkeeper. We see it every day with him and Artur, they drive each other on, they compete and I have every confidence in him."

Midfielder Scott Brown, who has been playing with an ankle injury for weeks, was also given a break by Mowbray for the trip to Lanarkshire.

With defender Danny Fox fit again after a hamstring tear and striker Marc-Antoine Fortune returning to fitness after recovering from his knee injury, Mowbray has bolstered his options in other areas of the side but Brown remains a worry.

"It is all about looking after the player," the former West Brom and Hibernian manager said.

"Scott got a knock on his ankle last week against Hamburg.

"We will assess him this Wednesday and then again on Saturday and he will be back playing when he is ready.

"He has been down to London to see a specialist during the international break.

"It is something that we have to sort out but we will manage him properly as we go along.

"But we look forward to the next game.

"We will see if we can get to the semi-final on Wednesday night and then look forward to Kilmarnock next weekend and just keep going."
