Ali Chaaban netted the winner as Staines Town produced an FA Cup shock with a thoroughly deserved 1-0 first-round win at Shrewsbury.

Soon after, Shrewsbury's Dave Hibbert headed narrowly over but it was not a sign of a fightback by the League Two side, who were completely disjointed and never threatened Louis Wells in the Staines goal.

Shrewsbury had promised all week that they would never repeat the humiliation of defeat a year ago by Blyth Spartans but this was an equal humiliation by a team who could easily have had more goals.

Substitute Dean Thomas headed over a gaping goal 10 minutes from the end, and at the final whistle the handful of Staines supporters invaded the pitch to congratulate their heroes.
