Chelsea are hoping Petr Cech and Joe Cole will return from injury against Roma in their Champions League Group A clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Luiz Felipe Scolari definitely welcomes back centre-half Ricardo Carvalho after a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
However, the Brazilian coach remains without striker Didier Drogba (knee and ankle), Ashley Cole (hamstring) and Michael Ballack (foot surgery).
Francesco Totti has been included in Roma's at Chelsea.
Totti, who made his first start in six months in Sunday's 4-0 defeat against Internazionale after being sidelined with a knee injury, is eager to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.
"It's going to be a difficult game but we want to show our value," said the Roma captain.
"I am ready to play but it's down to the coach to make that decision."
Totti's return has boosted the spirits of Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, whose team is 14th in Serie A following a poor start to the domestic season.
