The Switzerland international has scored five goals in 16 games since joining on loan from Udinese in the summer, including the Hornets' second in the 6-1 win against Leeds.
But the head of medical at Vicarage Road, Marco Cesarini has confirmed that the dislocation, which forced the player to be stretchered off at Elland Road, is only a short-term problem.
Cesarini told the club's official website: "Almen's having a scan (Wednesday), but we're confident the injury won't mean a lengthy absence."
The club have also confirmed that defender Fitz Hall has returned to training from a hamstring injury.
Nyron Nosworthy, John Eustace, and Prince Bauben are all continuing their rehabilitation meanwhile, but will be made to wait for their first-team returns.
