CHERRIES GO TOP, SOL TASTES DEFEAT Bet on League Two with Sky Bet!

Bournemouth's best start to a season for 39 years continued at rock-bottom Darlington as Brett Pitman's double kept them on top of the Coca-Cola League Two table.

Pitman converted Lee Bradbury's cross early on before slamming home his fourth goal in three games from the spot after Tony Kane handled the ball in the area.

Dagenham remain hot on their heels and are still only two points behind thanks to a 1-0 win at Burton.

Paul Benson's slotted home his eighth goal of the season in the fourth minute but Burton should have hit back through Shaun Harrad's penalty which was saved by Tony Roberts.

Albion's Guy Branston was later sent off for a professional foul.

Rotherham are now four points off the pace after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.

Veteran campaigner Julian Alsop headed home a late equaliser to deny managerless Rotherham the win.

Adam Le Fondre's fifth goal in six games had set the Millers on their way, only for Alsop to get on the end of Theo Lewis' cross five minutes from time.

Barnet and Bradford had to settle for a point after a thrilling draw that was kicked off by James Hanson's early effort for City.

John O'Flynn got Barnet level only for Zesh Rehman to cancel his strike out, before Mark Hughes' late header earned Barnet a point nine minutes from the end.

Kirk Hudson's goal capped a fine turnaround for Aldershot to move them into fifth.

Shaun Miller rifled Crewe ahead early in the first half, before Scott Donnelly's fifth goal of the season pulled the visitors level.

Hudson then won it for the Shots as he converted Donnelly's precise pass.

Ian Sampson's chances of taking over as Northampton's next permanent manager suffered another blow as Will Buckley's goal earned Rochdale the points.

Chris O'Grady slotted Dale ahead early on and Ryan Gilligan equalised after the break, only for Buckley to curl home a fine winner for Keith Hill's men.

Shrewsbury are level on points with Aldershot and Rochdale following a 2-0 victory at managerless Lincoln.

Jake Robinson got the Shrews on their way from close range before the in-form striker Dave Hibbert settled matters with a penalty, his seventh goal of the season, following a handball by Moses Swaibu.

Sol Campbell had a debut to forget as high-flying Notts County were humbled by Morecambe's first win of the season.

The former England man looked on as Jim Bentley and Paul Mullin set the Shrimps on their way, with Ben Davies' long-range strike not enough to rescue the Magpies.

A four-goal blitz before half-time helped Chesterfield easily see off Macclesfield.

Wade Small got them going early on, before Jack Lester, Jamie Lowry and Donal McDermott all chimed in with further goals.

Hamza Bencherif got a late consolation for the visitors who sit second bottom in the table.

Torquay are level on points with Macclesfield as their slump continued at home to Grimsby where they fell to a fifth successive defeat.

Kevin Nicholson's 18-yard own goal which came as he went in for a tackle gave the hosts a fortuitous lead, before Peter Sweeney made sure of the points with a delightful 25-yard free-kick.

Hereford leap above them as John Trewick finally got his first win as manager with a 2-0 victory over Accrington Stanley.

On-loan Leicester man Craig King volleyed Hereford ahead early on, and Marc Pugh had a penalty saved by Ian Dunbavin as the Bulls impressed, before Ryan Valentine's second-half header settled any nerves.

Elsewhere, Bury triumphed 1-0 at Port Vale thanks to Ryan Lowe's eighth-minute strike.

Mike Jones' also hit a post as Bury impressed, although Ryan Cresswell's sending off for a second yellow two minutes from time tarnished their afternoon.
