COUNTY CRUISE TO VICTORY

Notts County remain top of League Two after a 3-0 home victory over second-placed Dagenham & Redbridge.

Lee Hughes put County in front in the 42nd minute and Karl Hawley added a second before the break. Johnnie Jackson made sure of all three points with a third in the 62nd minute.

Crewe's 1-0 victory over Hereford pushed them into third place thanks to a Billy Jones goal in the 36th minute.

Northampton moved into fifth place thanks to a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth. It was Bournemouth's first defeat of the season but goals from Adebayo Akinfenwa in the sixth minute and Ben Marshall (84) gave the Cobblers a fine victory.

Barnet continued their recovery with a 1-0 win at Torquay, with Albert Adomah's 25th-minute strike settling the contest.

Cheltenham were involved in a nine-goal thriller against Bradford, but tha Bantams ran out 5-4 winners. James O'Brien rifled in Bradford's first goal of the campaign in the second minute but Elvis Hammond levelled. Michael Townsend cancelled out Gareth Evans's effort for Bradford to make it 2-2 after only 10 minutes, before James Hanson converted a corner.

An overhead kick from Justin Richards made it 3-3 but a header from Steve Williams and a Townsend own goal ensured that a last-minute goal by Richards was only a consolation.

Aldershot moved into ninth place thanks to a 3-1 victory over Accrington Stanley. Two goals from Scott Donnelly and another from Marvin Morgan earned them a comfortable win despite a 47th-minute goal from Phil Edwards for Stanley.

Burton heaped more pressure on Lincoln boss Peter Jackson with a 2-0 win at Sincil Bank. Ryan Austin netted a simple first-half header to set them on their way and substitute Russell Penn made it 2-0 with a superb lob from 25 yards in added time.

Grimsby earned their first win of the season with a 1-0 success at Bury courtesy of Barry Conlan's 20th-minute strike.

And Port Vale left Darlington rock bottom with a 1-0 home win that was secured by Marc Richards' 29th-minute goal. Darlington missed the chance to level the scores in the 80th minute when Gary Smith missed a penalty.

Shrewsbury and Chesterfield shared a point in a 1-1 draw. Steven Leslie put the home side in front in the 31st minute but Jamie Lowry levelled for Chesterfield midway through the second half.
