New Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon has immediately set his sights on a top 10 finish come the end of the season, and even a play-off place.
Dillon was appointed as the new man in charge at the Recreation Ground on Monday, replacing caretaker manager Jason Dodd who filled in for three-and-a-half weeks after Gary Waddock's departure to Wycombe.
The Shots comfortably finished in mid-table last season in what was their debut campaign in League Two since storming the Blue Square Premier. They currently lie in 10th place, just three points outside the top seven, and Dillon is hoping to maintain that success over the remaining 31 games.
He said: "Hopefully (come the end of the season) I'd like to be on the edges of the play-offs and possibly push into that, which would give the supporters a bit of excitement.
"I don't want the season to peter out and I don't think that's going to happen because the players seem to be in a decent rhythm. They look really excited and that shows in what they've done already, hopefully we can build on that.
"But possibly play-offs, just outside, going into the last three games with a chance to get in there - great. The success the club have had has been continued from the promotion to last season where they finished 15th, and if we finish above that this season then it's successful."
