Grimsby have signed Southend striker James Lawson on a one-month loan.
The 19-year-old, who has made three first-team-appearances for the Shrimpers so far this season, goes straight into the Mariners squad which meets Stockport at Blundell Park on Saturday.
Southend manager Steve Tilson told United's official website: "Lawson's first-team action has been limited this season so this loan will be good for him and us.
"We have six strikers here at the club and we cannot play them all so, hopefully, James will go away and get the first-team football he needs.
"Things started really well for him last season but we felt he has just stagnated a little and that is mainly due to his lack of chances.
"Going to Grimsby will toughen him up and also give him the football he needs."
