Darlington manager David Hodgson has apologised to his players after an extended training session at the start of the week left them visibly fatigued against Bury on Tuesday.
Barry Conlon's second-half penalty earned the Quakers a 1-0 win but Hodgson felt his side looked tired during the game.
Bury's visit to the 96.6 TFM Arena was the first of five games in 19 days for the Quakers and Hodgson's admits it was a mistake to conduct such a lengthy training session ahead of the hectic forthcoming schedule.
"The first thing I said in the changing room to the players was 'I apologise.' That's because I kept us on the training ground too long on Monday," he said.
"I wanted to make the point that they are a young side but they know what they are doing and I perhaps spent too long making sure players knew where they had to be.
"It was very warm and I think we ended up fatigued and a bit leggy towards the end."
